Wednesday 26th January, 1-3pm in the E-learning lab and on SKYPE
The managers for Gifted and Talented, Literacy, Global Citizenship and E-learning will all be attending
From SUNY Ulster, Richard Cattabiani, International Programs, and John Ganio, Dean of Academic Affairs, and Michelle Donlon, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction, Rondout Valley School District
Things to clarify include the following:
· Length and scope of the course
45-50 hours of seat time but this is flexible
the course would run next summer 2012 and perhaps the following summer would have a face to face component
the course would run as a 2 week intensive.
At present, this will just be that 2 weeks but eventually consider over the course of the school year, spring and fall semester
SUNY Ulster Collegiate connection to Rondout School system
SUNY Ulster needs make sure that the course gets approved by the curriculum committee as a experimental course
· Learning materials

New VIC -GAT
· Resources
Course to occur in a computer lab room with ideally each student on a computer
webcam
Moodle
Voicethread
access to the EHU moodle course for the NewVIC faculty involved
· Manager (s)
New VIC: Penny Warburton
ULSTER: Richard Cattabiani + Hope Windle
Penny suggests that we
1. Discuss the above
2. Write a proposal which Penny can then present to the Senior Leadership Team.
If we get a firm commitment from them, then we can take this further.
- Next Steps
The New VIC folks need to write up a proposal for their board under the leadership of Penny
Ulster needs to get the course put under the wing of the English department which Richard will do, as an experimental English course.
Hope will get everyone into the EHU Moodle course collaboration from last semester
Once the proposal gets written, Penny will post for all to use/share. Perhaps this proposal can be helpful for Michelle, Rondout in getting approval from the Rondout School district's Curriculum and Technology boards.
All should read the text and and watch the movie, "Waltzing with Bashir" as a possible graphic novel choice.
Follow-up Meeting - 2/03/11
Present: Penny Warburton; Robert Vincent; Andrew McCleod; Rodney Kain
Apologies: Colette du Bois; Carina Ancell
Initial proposal about project discussed informally with Eddie Playfair (Principal of NewVic) and Nick Christoforou (Director of Studies).
They have responded very positively to the idea - the next step is to complete a course approval form which will then be considered by the Senior Leadership Team. One concern raised was the level of funding / resourcing needed for the project at a time of budgetary cuts.
Agenda
- Write Course Approval Form
Course approval form drafted by Penny, Robert and Andrew - to be disseminated to members of the SUNY NewVic working party for suggestions / editing.
After comments / advice / amendments - the form will be submitted to SLT for approval.
- Discuss Course content
We have decided not to proceed with 'Waltzing with Bashir'.
Other graphic novels to be discussed at the next meeting.
